COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio -- A Gomer, Ohio, man was killed Wednesday after his car and an oncoming vehicle collided in Putnam County.

Jacob Graham, 21, was eastbound on State Rt. 12 near Pleasant Township Road 9-Q about 11:50 a.m. when his driver's door was struck by a westbound car driven by Kayla Meyer, 19, of Leipsic, Ohio, which went left of center as she approached a curve, troopers at the Lima post of the Ohio Highway patrol said.

Mr. Graham's car stopped in a ditch off the south side of the road.

Fire and rescue workers freed him from the car. He was taken to St. Rita's Ambulatory Care Center in Ottawa, Ohio, where he was pronounced dead. He wore a shoulder restraint, but not a lap belt, troopers said.

Ms. Meyer wore a seat belt. She was treated at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay.

Route 12 was closed about four hours as troopers investigated the crash.

Alcohol was not considered a factor, troopers said. No citations were issued Wednesday.
