A girl born by cesarean section after an auto crash earlier this month that killed her mother died Saturday at Toledo Children’s Hospital.

Tedra White, a spokesman for Promedica, confirmed Saturday afternoon that Dalon Miracle Fisher, the baby born on March 9 after her mother, Dawon Fisher, 27, was killed in a crash on Airport Highway, had passed away.

The news had first been released in a statement by a representative of the family.

“It is with deep sadness that the Fisher family reports the loss of Baby Fisher,” said Komako Goolsby in the statement. “We are extremely grateful for ALL the thoughts, prayers and concern. Due to being grief-stricken, please respect [the family’s] privacy at this time.”

The family also said that if anyone wishes to make a donation in the baby’s memory, it should be made to St.Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Dalon’s name.

Miss Fisher was on the phone with her boyfriend and told him she thought she was having heart problems just before her car crashed head-on into a van. The van’s occupants - retired Toledo police Lt. Norbert Thiel, 80, and his wife Nancy, 76 - were also killed in the crash. Two Illinois residents, Leon Brazil, 32, and Trelane Grayson, 33, crashed a vehicle into the back of the van. Both were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

The baby had been in critical condition for most of her stay in the hospital, but had been upgraded to serious condition on March 15 before having her condition again downgraded to critical.
