Michigan woman dies after running stop sign

BLISSFIELD — A Palmyra, Mich., woman died Thursday after her car ran a stop sign in Riga Township three miles south of Blissfield and collided with another vehicle, according to the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office.

Heidi Brewer, 40, was flown to Toledo Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Deputies said she was eastbound on Weston Road after 8 a.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection with Berkey Highway and was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle, James McCabe, 50, of Blissfield, was treated at Flower Hospital, Sylvania.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation.
