A local not-for-profit law firm has filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in federal court in hopes of forcing the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Financial Stability to respond to a records request.

Advocates for Basic Legal Equality Inc. filed a complaint in U.S. District Court in Toledo last week, claiming it requested documents in August under the act and hasn’t received the material. The case was assigned to Judge Jack Zouhary. The eight-page complaint says ABLE requested the list of investor nonparticipants in the Home Affordable Modification Program, a national foreclosure-prevention program.
