Holland woman to go to Jefferson Awards rites
4/25/2011Mary Lou Leonard will represent northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan at the Jefferson Awards National Ceremonies in Washington June 21.
Ms. Leonard of Holland is a local Jefferson Award winner who distributes shoes to needy children and is known as “the Shoe Lady.” She is the founder of Christian Health Ministries, a clinic that provides free medical care to the poor. She is also active in the Red Cross and has worked in medical missions in Equatorial Guinea and Belarus.
