Lucas County commissioners Tuesday approved contracts authorizing the Children Services Board and the Department of Job and Family Services to receive state and federal funds on behalf of Lucas County for the 2012 and 2013 fiscal years.

The Children Services Board expects to receive about $20 million in fiscal year 2012, mostly in federal funds, to pay foster and adoptive families and cover administrative expenses, according to Executive Director Dean Sparks. He said that’s about 6.2 percent less than in the current year as federal stimulus funds enacted in early 2009 expire.

Job and Family Services has a state and federal funds budget of $27.8 million for the upcoming fiscal year, down from more than $49 million only six years ago and $33 million in the current year, according to department Director Deborah Ortiz-Flores.
