More than 50 people gathered outside the Lucas County Children Services offices Friday morning to honor five children who died last year “as a result of abuse or neglect.”

The annual Child Memorial — hosted every April for child abuse prevention month — remembered five children from Lucas County. Honored were Thomas Stahl, 7; Cody Chrisman, 14 months; and Saniya Sullivan, 3 — all drowning victims. Kantraylious Guy, 16, and Deshaun Lee, 16, also were remembered.

Kantraylious was found shot to death inside an Acklin Avenue home in the central city on Dec. 21, 2010. He died from a single gunshot wound to the left side of his face. No arrests have been made.

Deshaun was shot and killed around 12:35 p.m. May 29, 2010, while crossing Russell Street near Mulberry Street. Police have no description of the gunman.

The Woodward High School Choir performed and students of local high schools were recognized for winning a video contest of child abuse prevention month commercials.
