Findlay OK’d for $1M to raise energy efficiency
5/2/2011FINDLAY — The city of Findlay has been approved for just more than $1 million in financing to improve energy efficiency.
The Ohio Air Quality Development Authority approved $518,006 in federal tax-exempt revenue bonds and $518,006 in Qualified Energy Conservation Bond federal tax credit bonds for Findlay to replace lighting systems at the downtown municipal building at the Cube recreation center on North Main Street.
Working with Honeywell Building Solutions, the city also will install a new energy-management control system and high-efficiency boilers at the municipal building and new exterior pole lights and a locker room unit at the Cube.
Light-emitting diodes will replace incandescent bulbs in the city’s traffic lights.
According to the Ohio Air Quality Development Authority, the measures should help Findlay cut annual energy consumption by 21 percent and save nearly $37,000 a year.
