Mobile Meals of Toledo Inc. is starting routes in southwest Toledo and southwest Lucas County and is seeking delivery volunteers, with training scheduled for this week.

Needed is a minimum of 10 people, or teams of volunteers, to dedicate two hours a day, two times a month, on each new route. Businesses are invited to volunteer if employees are able to make deliveries during lunch time.

"Two people and a lunch hour is all it takes to deliver a route," Mobile Meals said in a statement. The new service areas have been developed based on need, the statement said.

The city route will be in the area of the Toledo Botanical Garden, the agency said. The rural route will be near Whitehouse, Waterville, Swanton, and Providence Township.

Training will be at Mobile Meals' offices in the Mercy Healthcare Center, 2200 Jefferson Ave., Toledo, starting at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Volunteers need attend only one session. Class reservations can be made or directions obtained from Mobile Meals at 419-255-7806 or by e-mail a cbush@mobilemeals.org.
