LAMBERTVILLE — One person was taken to an area hospital after two semi-tractor trailers collided in the southbound lanes of U.S. 23, just north of the Ohio-Michigan border, authorities said.
The crash happened around 4 a.m. Thursday near exit 3.
One of the tractor trailers began to experience "mechanical difficulties" and was rear-ended by a second truck, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
The name of the driver taken to the hospital — and where he was being treated — was not available.
Traffic is being detoured off of U.S. 23 at exit 3 to Consear Road and back on the highway at the Sterns Road exit for clean up.
Authorities said there is a significant amount of debris because one of the trucks caught fire.
The driver who rear-ended the other truck was cited, authorities said.
