Gas leak closes Walbridge’s West Union Street
5/17/2011A portion of West Union Street in Walbridge that is currently closed because of a gas leak is expected to reopen by midnight, a Columbia Gas spokesman said.
The street was closed Tuesday night between Main Street and Luckey Road so crews could work on a 4-inch, high-pressure main line that had been scheduled to be repaired earlier in the day, spokesman Chris Kozak said.
“We had trouble getting to it, and then when we got to it, the repairs were more than we anticipated,” Mr. Kozak said.
Columbia Gas crews were still working at the scene after 10 p.m., but expected to be finished and reopen the road within an hour or two, he said.
There were no injuries reported and Columbia Gas customers were not affected by the leak, Mr. Kozak said.
