Imagination Station is giving an advance look Thursday of the Bodies Revealed exhibit to the media and others before it opens to center members Friday and the general public Saturday.

Ten full body specimens and more than 150 partial specimens that have been dissected and preserved are set up in a series of galleries in a private exhibit at the downtown Toledo museum. Visitors can get a detailed look at skeletal, muscular, reproductive, respiratory, circulatory, and other systems of the body.

The Blade will publish an online photo gallery from the exhibit Friday at toledoblade.com as well as continued coverage.

Organized by Premier Exhibitions Inc. of Atlanta, the exhibit has been shown in various versions in about 30 countries and attracted 15 million visitors since its first appearance in 2004.

Some of the specimens in the exhibit were prepared using a technique know as corrosion casting. Blood vessels were first injected with a colored polymer, which hardened. The remaining body tissue was then chemically removed, revealing the matrix that transports blood through the human body.

For nonmembers, admission to Imagination Station is $9 for adults (13 and older), $8 for seniors (65 and older), and $7 for children (3-12). Bodies Revealed requires an additional ticket: $9 for adults, $8 for seniors, and $7 for children. Members get into Imagination Station for free, and their Bodies Revealed fee is $6.
