Toledo Edison customers lose power

Houses and traffic lights went dark and air conditioners whirred to a halt late Wednesday as equipment failure at a Toledo Edison substation caused 5,000 of the utility’s customers to lose power.

The outage affected areas of West and South Toledo and Sylvania and Sylvania Township.

Crews were on the scene to repair the equipment, said Meg Adams, an Edison spokesman. She had no estimate of when power would be restored.
