Strong storms blew through Toledo Tuesday evening, bringing with them hail, torrential rains, downed power lines, and for some, damage.

Leo Moliszewski said when he returned to his Gradolph Street home Tuesday night, he wasn’t sure what had blown through the neighborhood. He said the flagpole in his yard was bent parallel to the ground, and the swing on the screened-in porch was laying in the yard.

“It went right through the screen,” he said.

Debbie Paul area manager for external affairs for Toledo Edison, said about 10,000 homes in the city and surrounding areas experienced power outages because of the high winds that blew through just before 8 p.m., and that by 11:15 p.m. Tuesday, Toledo Edison had restored power to about 4,000 of those residences.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected Wednesday and Thursday as well before things are expected to dry out.
