BOWLING GREEN — The director of Wood County Job and Family Services plans to retire Oct. 31 in part because of expected changes in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.

Paulette Stephens submitted notice of her retirement to Wood County commissioners, who will be responsible for naming her successor, County Administrator Andrew Kalmar said. Ms. Stephens, who was named director of the agency in 2004, has been with Wood County for 26 years and has 38 years in the system, which has evolved from the welfare department to human services to its current name, job and family services.

“This agency has passed our audits with no findings, we are meeting the goals set up for us, we have received awards in every division of the agency,” she wrote in a letter to commissioners.
