Community outreach slated at Smith Park
6/24/2011Toledo’s New Order National Human Rights Organization chapter is hosting Friday and Sunday the first annual Hope Fest, a community outreach event aimed at local youth.
The event, slated for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at Smith Park on Dorr Street, is to include speakers, free food, and entertainment.
Local President Waymon Farmer said a literacy intervention program has been coordinated with the Mott Branch Library to give away about 1,000 books. Doug Allen of the Toledo Police Gang Tank Force will give a presentation Friday at 2:15 p.m. to 4th, 5th, and 6th graders.
