Fostoria names safety director

6/24/2011

FOSTORIA -- Mayor John Davoli has appointed Jim Schreck as the city's new part-time safety-service director.

Mr. Schreck, who has been on the city's planning commission for 10 years and served on its civil-service commission and charter-review panel, will replace Dennis Fligor, who is retiring July 1. Mr. Davoli said Mr. Schreck will work two days a week through the end of the year at an annual salary of $28,000.

The mayor said if the arrangement works and he is re-elected, he would like to continue it in part to save money.

A former resident of Ottawa Hills, Mr. Schreck joined Hickory Farms in 1977. In 1986, he moved to Fostoria to become vice president of Seneca Lumber & Millwork Inc. In 1990, he became president. He was named vice president of Scholz Design in 2000, retiring in 2002.
