Bell inks Marina District deal

Mayor Mike Bell signs the paperwork for the sale of the Marina District to Dashing Pacific Group, Ltd., in Toledo Saturday, shortly before the Chinese company unveils their plans for the site.

Chinese investment firm Dashing Pacific Group Ltd. completed its $3.8 million purchase of the east side Marina District on Saturday, followed by a ground-breaking ceremony and celebration.

The sale was finalized Saturday morning with Mayor Mike Bell's signature. Wu Kin Hung and Yuan Xiaohong, the two members of Dashing Pacific, purchased the 69-acre area.

"It's a great day in the city of Toledo," Mayor Bell said. "This day is a pivotal keystone."

The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by the Chinese investors, Toledo City Council members, and others and took place along the Maumee River at the Marina District. The ceremony included a prayer, singing of the National Anthem, speeches, and

Ms. Yuan's traditional Chinese dedication of a rock, which she said symbolizes their commitment to Toledo's future.
