Seneca Co. toddler, 2, drowns in farm pond
7/6/2011NEW RIEGEL, Ohio -- A 2-year-old Seneca County boy drowned in a farm pond after he vanished from a Fourth of July party over the weekend.
Thomas R. Borer of New Riegel was pronounced dead at Tiffin Mercy Hospital. A spokesman for the Seneca County Sheriff's Office said a family member searching the pond pulled the toddler from the pond just after 9 p.m. Sunday.
A dispatcher with the sheriff's office said the pond belonged to "a family member" of the child but could not give a more precise relationship. Records on file with the Seneca County Auditor's Office show the property on Seneca Township Road 90 belongs to Thomas and Nancy Borer.
