Young girl hit by tree, dies

TIFFIN — A girl died Friday after being struck by a tree on State Rt. 18 in Seneca County’s Clinton Township, sheriff’s deputies said.

The circumstances of the incident, first reported about 1:55 p.m., are under investigation.

Tree trimming was taking place at 1891 State Rt. 18 when the girl was struck, deputies said. The girl, 4, was taken to Mercy Tiffin Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Deputies did not release her name and did not say where she lived.
