RENO BEACH, Ohio — A 22-year-old Michigan man remained hospitalized Monday with injuries suffered when he was struck by a boat propeller while swimming off a power boat in Lake Erie about a mile west of West Sister Island, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ watercraft division.

Michael Jenne, whose address was not released, was listed in fair condition Monday in Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.

The man was swimming off a stationary 31-foot boat with several other people about 7:30 p.m. Sunday when one of the boaters climbed back onto the vessel and accidently knocked it into gear, which caused the watercraft to back into the victim, according to the ODNR’s Maumee office.

Kevin Iott, 24, of Deerfield, Mich., was cited for operating a watercraft while under the influence of alcohol. The incident occurred about 10 miles northeast of Reno Beach, about 12 miles east of Toledo.
