BOWLING GREEN — Homeowners who live along a sewer line built 10 years ago for a new business park will not be required to tap into the line, the health board decided Monday night.

Faced with vocal opposition from residents in the area of Midstar Business Park at State Rts. 25 and 582, north of Bowling Green, the Wood County Board of Health voted unanimously to grant a variance to residential property owners who recently were told they must connect to the line.

We’re very pleased,” homeowner Ray Your said after the meeting, which was attended by about two dozen residents. “I think there is a little work to be done yet, but I believe the health board is obviously representing the people of the bowling green area appropriately and honestly.”

Seventy-two property owners were recently told by the Northwestern Water and Sewer District that they would now have to tap into the sewer line, though those properties that are businesses would not be covered by the variance.
