The former administrator of a Wood County village has sued the police chief and its councilmen, claiming that his Constitutional rights were violated when he and the mayor were forced to resign.

Kevin Zigler filed the complaint Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Toledo. The suit names Bloomdale Police Chief Eric Goodrich and councilmen Pamela Ohler, Sheila McNally, William Patterson, Melinda Snider, Dawn Clark, and Steven Shafer.

According to the complaint, Mr. Zigler was asked by then-Mayor Rory Fitch in 2009 to investigate the police chief for possible misuse of county property and funds. Soon after, the two were confronted by the police chief and members of council and forced to resign, the complaint said. The lawsuit, assigned to Judge James Carr, asks for more than $480,000 in damages.
