The Toledo Police Department’s third abandoned and forfeited vehicle sale of the year yielded $105,400 as buyers snapped up a 2000 Jaguar, a 1975 Pontiac Catalina, and even an abandoned portable cement mixer, Officer Kathy Trautman said.

The auction yesterday at the city’s impound lot on Dura Avenue included 80 abandoned vehicles, which brought in $79,800. That money, minus the auctioneer’s commission, will go to the city’s general fund.

The sale of nine forfeited vehicles brought in $25,600, which will go to the law enforcement trust fund.

The highest bids were $9,500 for a forfeited 2003 Cadillac Escalade and $4,250 for an abandoned 2006 Buick LaCross. The abandoned Jaguar Vanden Plas came in second, with a winning bid of $4,050.

A $650 bid won a new home for the Catalina, the oldest vehicle at the auction. The lowest successful bid was $400 for a 1993 Dodge Shadow.

The cement mixer went for $625.

The auction attracted 292 registered bidders, Officer Trautman said.
