Monroe Co. sheriff's seize 47 marijuana plants
9/22/2011MILAN, Mich. — Monroe County sheriff’s deputies Thursday seized 47 suspected marijuana plants growing in a Milan Township corn field.
The plants yielded more than 50 pounds of plant material, deputies said, and material processed from the plants would have an estimated street value of $75,000. Some plants were so large and top heavy with buds, they were bent nearly to the ground, Sgt. Geoff Kovenich said.
The plants were spotted about 4 p.m. by Joe Schumacher, sheriff’s office chief pilot, and Deputy Don Duncan as they flew over in the department helicopter.
No arrests were made, and deputies are continuing to investigate.
Milan is about 30 miles north of Toledo.
