Lucas Co. groups aiding crime victims win grants

Lucas County agencies that help crime victims were awarded $672,400 in grants from the State Victims’ Assistance Act and the federal Victims of Crime Act, according to Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine.

The largest local award, $331,000, went to the Lucas County prosecutor’s Victim Witness Assistance Program. Also receiving funding were the YWCA Rape Crisis Center, $154,100; the Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center, which serves Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood counties, $104,300; the Court-Appointed Special Advocates program of the Lucas County Juvenile Court, $23,600; Bethany House domestic violence shelter, $21,400; and Advocates for Basic Legal Equality serving seniors in Lucas, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Henry, Ottawa, Paulding, Sandusky, Williams, and Wood counties, $38,000.
