Man killed in crash in Pulaski Twp.

DEFIANCE -- A Bryan, Ohio, man was killed in a crash yesterday on Williams County Road C in Pulaski Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Derek Hughes, 20, the driver of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the patrol's Defiance post.

Mr. Hughes was driving east on Road C about a half-mile east of County Road 15 at 3:48 a.m. when for unknown reasons the car drove off the right side of the road, struck a mailbox and a driveway access, went airborne, and hit a tree, according to the patrol.

The driver was using a seat belt. The use of alcohol was ruled out, troopers said.

Defiance is about 55 miles southwest of Toledo.
