FINDLAY -- A Carleton, Mich., man was killed in a head-on crash yesterday when he drove his car the wrong way and collided with a tractor-trailer rig on I-75 in Hancock County’s Eagle Township, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Robert Carroll, 65, the car driver who was trapped in the wreckage for a time, was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, troopers at the patrol’s Findlay post said.

Paul Jones, 46, of Greenfield, Ind., the driver of the semi, was taken to the same hospital, according to the patrol. The hospital did not release his condition.

Mr. Carroll was driving south in the northbound lanes of the expressway near milepost 156 about 1:30 a.m. when his car collided with Mr. Jones’ semi. Authorities did not say why the man was driving the wrong way.
