LYONS, Ohio — An Indiana woman was killed and two others injured in a car-truck collision at a rural intersection late Friday in Fulton County’s Royalton Township, the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported.

Cynthia M. Torres, 18, of South Bend, was pronounced dead at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, to which she was flown following the 11:47 p.m. collision at U.S. 20 and State Rt. 109, troopers from the patrol’s Toledo post said.

Troopers said Ms. Torres was a backseat passenger in an auto driven north on Route 109 by her mother, Beverly V. Torres, 47, also of South Bend, that failed to observe a stop sign at U.S. 20 and was struck by an eastbound tractor-trailer driven by Kenneth L. Roth, 35, of Bryan. The elder Ms. Torres and another backseat passenger, Brandon J. Weisser, 20, of South Bend, were taken to Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon for treatment of their injuries.

They were transferred to St. Vincent, where Ms. Torres was listed in critical condition and Mr. Weisser was in good condition, according to a hospital spokesman.

Neither the younger Ms. Torres or Mr. Weisser were wearing seat belts, while the elder Ms. Torres was wearing the safety device, troopers said.

Mr. Roth’s truck continued off the north side of the highway and overturned, but Mr. Roth was not hurt.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation.
