In the race for Elmore village mayor, which pitted a brother against a brother, incumbent Lowell Krumnow was the victorious sibling Tuesday night.

Mayor Krumnow defeated his older brother James Krumnow with 61 percent of the vote. He won 384 votes to 245 votes, according to unofficial election results.

Mayor Krumnow, 54, a Republican, has been mayor since 1992.

“I felt confident what I’ve been doing for the community for the last 20 years has been the right thing,” he said Tuesday night after declaring victory. “The residents must feel the same way.”

The mayor said his brother works second shift, so he has not heard from him about the election results. But he said he wasn’t going to rub it in because he might win this election but then lose another election later.

“It might come back to bite you,” Mayor Krumnow said.
