Lucas County officials completed a new mapping system to be used by emergency responders and other public agencies.

The work provides an updated map of the county for use by police, firefighters, the county engineer, and the county auditor. In addition to residential, commercial, and industrial structures, the new map includes the location of fire hydrants, bike paths, boat ramps, cell phone towers, campground lots, and emergency phones on the University of Toledo’s campus, among other things.

The system cost $728,000, of which $196,000 came from a state grant and $50,000 from a County Engineers Association of Ohio grant, with the balance coming from county coffers.
