Zoo Christmas tree lighting to kick off annual tradition

The Toledo Zoo kicks off its annual Lights Before Christmas holiday event Friday night with the lighting of its 85-foot Norway Spruce. The tree lighting, featuring 35,000 lights, will occur between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

The zoo hosts the holiday event through Dec. 31. Visitors are admitted from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The zoo will close at 10 p.m.

Tickets are $8 for people 60 and older, and children ages 2-11. Admission for adults and children 12 and older is $11. KeyBank will provide free admission on opening night for active military personnel and their families with a professional ID.
