The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced several changes to the I-475 work zone in central Toledo that will require a detour and a temporary lane closing Thursday night.

Starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, the southbound exit to westbound I-475 will be closed until 5 a.m. Friday. Traffic will be detoured to the Detroit Avenue interchange to return north to I-475. But the northbound I-75 exit to westbound I-475 also will be affected, with one of two lanes closed during those same hours.

By Friday morning, the closed ramp will have been shifted onto new pavement. Motorists should be alert to the modified traffic pattern.

ODOT also plans to open the new ProMedica Parkway exit ramp from eastbound I-475 overnight. Once that ramp opens, the existing eastbound exit to Central Avenue will close permanently.

Finally, officials expect the eastbound entrance from Douglas Road to reopen by Friday afternoon. Exactly when it reopens will depend on the weather and on how quickly the ramp change at the ProMedica interchange is completed.

The Douglas Road exit from westbound I-475, however, will remain closed until sometime next summer.
