MONROE — A Monroe woman was killed Wednesday when her car and a Norfolk Southern train collided in Frenchtown Township, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Alexandra McDuffie, 41, was ejected from the car and pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter, 8, whose name was not released, was a passenger in the 3:27 p.m. crash on Nadeau Road near Wolverine Drive. She was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center and listed in stable condition late Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said.

Ms. McDuffie was driving west on Nadeau Road when her car was struck by a 4,304-foot southbound train pulling 75 railroad cars.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, and train signals were operational, according to the sheriff’s office. Anyone with information should call 734-240-7493.
