BOWLING GREEN -- A former village utility clerk in Pemberville was indicted this week by a Wood County grand jury on one count of theft in office.

Nearly $5,000 was stolen from the village, according to court documents.

Marcella Abke, 50, of Pemberville is to be arraigned Jan. 3 before Wood County Common Pleas Judge Robert Pollex.

Ms. Abke is accused of stealing utility payments she received from village utility customers, rather than depositing them, between March 31, 2009, and Feb. 28, 2011, court documents said.
