Fatal crash reported on Anthony Wayne Trail

At least one person was killed in a crash Saturday morning at Western Avenue and the Anthony Wayne Trail in which an auto struck a traffic signal post.

Details about the crash, reported at 10:24 a.m., were not immediately available. But fire dispatchers reported serious injuries, and a Lucas County coroner's investigator was sent to the scene in South Toledo.

The car crashed into the signal pole, which penetrated into the passenger side of its cabin. There did not appear to be a second vehicle involved.

Western was closed, as were lanes on both sides of the Trail.
