The open air shelter at Olander Park will be replaced in the spring, the park system commissioners decided at their Monday meeting.

The building, on the west side of Lake Olander adjacent to the swim building and playground, will be demolished and rebuilt by the Sylvania high schools’ carpentry classes. The park system will only have to pay for materials, which park system director Gary Madrzykowski estimated will cost less than $8,000.

The well-used shelter is a popular rental site for parties.
