Three northwest Ohio companies have been fined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
Textileather Corp. was found to have two serious safety violations when OSHA inspected it between Aug., 4, 2011, and Dec., 15, 2011. The Toledo-based business was fined for not determining and/or estimating the presence of asbestos in its facility and providing training about asbestos to some employees. It was fined a total of $6,000.
Grunwell-Cashero Co. was fined $13,860 for violations found during a July 14, 2011, inspection. The Toledo-based firm was fined $3,080 because employees who weren’t wearing helmets were in dangerous areas and $10,780 for a repeat offense of not protecting workers from falls.
OSHA fined Potash Corp. $8,500 for failing to document equipment that “complies with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices” and not implementing an administrative plan for control of valves. Both violations, found on inspection dates between Aug. 9, 2011, and Jan. 5, 2012, are deemed serious. Each carries a fine of $4,250 for the Lima-based business.
