To help combat childhood obesity, Imagination Station and ProMedica on Wednesday unveiled plans for a permanent exhibition at the downtown Toledo science center that will use fun, interactive activities focused on nutrition and exercise.

Called Eat It Up!, the exhibition will have seven major exhibits and is slated to open April 6. Wheel of Fire, a more than 8-foot rotary treadmill with “flames” that grow higher as the user’s speed increases, was one exhibit ready Wednesday for officials and fourth graders from Washington Local’s Monac Elementary to try out during a news conference.

Imagination Station and ProMedica have been working on the exhibition for about a year and a half. It will include a demonstration area and be housed in more than 2,000 square feet on the science museum’s lower level.

Eat It Up! is included in the science museum’s regular admission. Imagination Station also will provide free materials for educators and families as part of the exhibition.
