Perrysburg City Council Tuesday voted 7-0 to hire Clear View Strategies of Pittsburgh to create a transportation development plan that could be implemented if the city exits the TARTA system.

A referendum to determine whether residents want to opt out of TARTA's service is on the March 6 ballot.

Councilman J. Todd Grayson said the city has been in preliminary discussions with the firm and expects to have a contract signed within a week.

Officials said hiring a consultant will help determine what a new public transit system would look like and how much it would cost.

The Clear View contract is expected to cost just under $39,000, Mr. Grayson said.
