Groundbreaking next week for GFS Marketplace

Groundbreaking for a Gordon Food Service Marketplace store on West Central Avenue in Sylvania Township will be next week, a company official said Wednesday. The store will be between Walmart and the Ballas Buick GMC dealership.

Mark Dempsey, marketing strategist for the Grand Rapids, Mich., food distributor, said the 16,339-square-foot store at 5717 West Central Ave. is to open by fall. The store, which will be Gordon Food Service’s fourth in the area, will employ 35, he said.
