A 22-year-old Toledo man died following a traffic crash just before midnight Saturday on Central Avenue on the overpass of I-475 in Sylvania Township, troopers said.

George Asay, who was pronounced dead at Toledo Hospital, was a passenger in a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero driven westbound by Abdelnaser Ahmad, 32, of Toledo, according to troopers at the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol.

Mr. Ahmad lost control of his vehicle and traveled left of center; the vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Eric Whaley, 19, of Toledo, troopers said.

Mr. Whaley had three female passengers in his car, a 17-year-old and two 15-year-olds.

Occupants from both vehicles were taken to Toledo Hospital where Mr. Ahmad was treated and released and Mr. Whaley was listed in serious condition, according to the hospital.

Conditions of the other passengers were unavailable.

Mr. Asay was not wearing his seatbelt, though the driver was, troopers said.

The crash remains under investigation.
