Columbia to replace gas lines in West Toledo

Columbia Gas of Ohio Inc. said Monday it will spend $3.4 million to upgrade its pipeline system in a West Toledo neighborhood.

The project is one of seven announced for 2012. Steel pipe will be replaced by plastic for residential and commercial customers along streets bounded by Eleanor Avenue, Bennett Road, Phillips Avenue, and Lagrange Street, and gas meters will be relocated to the outside of dwellings.

Columbia Gas said it would hold a public meeting to discuss the project Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at the West Toledo branch library, 1320 Sylvania Ave.

The work will require a temporary interruption of natural gas service; affected customers will be contacted in advance.
