ADRIAN -- An investigation by the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office has resulted in criminal sexual conduct charges against two 17-year-old Michigan high school students.

Troy Darnell Burr and Rodolfo Rios, both of Adrian, are charged with five counts each of assault with intent to commit sexual penetration and conspiracy to commit criminal sexual conduct, Sheriff Jack Welsh said.

Each teen was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.

Both boys were former members of the Madison High School football team and are accused of "hazing" at least two victims who were freshman members of the team, Sheriff Welsh said.

The "hazing" reportedly started in August during summer football practice, he said.

The sheriff said the Madison schools superintendent alerted authorities to the accusations Jan. 20.

The school district reportedly learned of the alleged assault from a parent, the sheriff said.

The sheriff released few other details on Tuesday, citing the ongoing criminal investigation.

The sheriff said that at this point he does not anticipate additional arrests, but he said there could be more victims.

Both suspects surrendered to authorities after sheriff's investigators prepared arrest warrants, reports show.

The teens will be tried as adults.

They are expected to appear before Lenawee County District Judge Laura Schaedler on March 19.
