BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- A tough third period for the Bowling Green State University hockey team Saturday night saw the Falcons fall 7-4 to Ferris State in game 2 of the second round of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.

Four goals in the final frame and a possible injury late in the game to starting goaltender Andrew Hammond capped what BG (13-23-5) had hoped would have been the elimination of the No. 2 nationally-ranked Bulldogs (23-10-5). Instead, the two teams will face each other in game 3 at Ferris State at 7:05 p.m. Sunday.

Connor Kucera and Jake Sloat each scored once while Dan DaSalvo added two goals and an assist in the loss. Ryan Carpenter had two assists as well. Hammond finished with 34 saves while backup Scott Zacharias made one stop.

BG led 1-0 after the first.
