Colombia soccer coach to conduct lecture, clinic

Colombian women's soccer national coach Ricardo Rozo will be at the University of Toledo Sunday and Monday to watch one of his star pupils, junior Natalia Gaitàn, as UT opens its 2012 spring campaign and to give a lecture and a clinic.

The 2011 Mid-American Conference champion Rockets are slated to host Ashland at Scott Park at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Following the exhibition match, Rozo will hold a lecture on the development of Colombian women's soccer. Rozo guided the national team to its first-ever berth in the 2011 World Cup, as well as a runner-up finish at the 2011 South American Championship and a 'Final Four' appearance at the 2010 U-20 Women's World Cup. The lecture will be free of charge and take place in the second-floor conference room in the Larimer Athletic Complex.

On Monday, Rozo will lead a youth development clinic in the Fetterman Indoor Facility. There will be two sessions offered for youngsters. The first clinic will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. for children U-14-15, followed by a second clinic from 7:30-9 p.m. for youngsters U-16-18. The clinic is open to the first 35 people per time slot and the cost is $30. Call UT assistant coach Anne Decker at 419-530-6251 for registration details.
