BOWLING GREEN — Health officials in Wood County are urging residents who received a health survey in the mail to complete it.

Wood County Health Partners, which includes a variety of public and private agencies such as Wood County Hospital and the county health department, is working with the Hospital Council of Northwest Ohio and researchers at the University of Toledo to conduct a community health assessment.

Questions on the survey cover general health, risk and protective health factors, and access to health care.

So far, only about 22 percent of the 800 Wood County residents aged 19 and older who received the surveys have returned them. A second round of surveys was mailed to residents last week.

Also, some 1,600 parents of children up to age 11 were chosen randomly to take part in a child’s health survey.

Survey results are to be used to prioritize health-care needs, plan programming, and update the community health-improvement plan.
