Toledo leaders to hold meetings about street projects
4/16/2012The city of Toledo has scheduled public meetings in every council district to provide information to residents about this year’s street construction and resurfacing program.
After several years of limited spending on residential streets in Toledo, the administration of Mayor Mike Bell has pledged $28 million for street repairs in 2012. The additional spending means Toledoans can expect to see more road reconstruction projects in the city, which could lead to the closing off of some streets.
The meetings — set for 6 to 8 p.m. each night — will take the form of small group discussions about the city’s process for rating street conditions and selecting streets for repairs, the work that goes into repairing streets, and information about potential traffic detours around the city because of construction projects. Residents will also have an opportunity to ask questions.
The city has already selected the streets it plans to repair this year, but residents will be able to offer input on the 2013 street construction and resurfacing program. Mayor Bell has said he plans to allocate another $31 million to street repairs next year.

April 17 — District 5 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 4225 Sylvania Ave.
April 26 — District 1 at Sullivan Center, Gesu Catholic Church, 2049 Parkside Ave.
May 1 — District 3 at East Toledo Family Center, 1020 Varland Ave.
May 2 — District 4 at Indiana Avenue Baptist Church, 640 Indiana Ave.
May 3 — District 2 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 915 N. Reynolds Rd.
May 29 - District 6 at West Toledo Branch Library, 1320 Sylvania Ave.
