The Ohio Department of Transportation is replacing the top red light on left-turn lane traffic signals with a red arrow to conform with federal standards.

Beginning today, the red circle will be replaced with a red arrow on left-turn signals along Central Avenue between I-475 and King Road in Sylvania Township, officials said. Other similar traffic signals will be changed throughout Lucas and Wood counties this month.

The change follows a 2009 update of the federal Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
