BLADE STAFF

Mark McDonough, a longtime Bowling Green police sergeant, has been hired as Whitehouse police chief, succeeding Chief Ed Kaplan, who retired January, 2011.

The village council had been unable to reach consensus on a replacement.

Village council unanimously approved hiring Mr. McDonough, who was with the Bowling Green department more than 22 years, at an April 17 meeting.

Village Administrator Jordan Daugherty did not return phone calls seeking information on Mr. McDonough's salary or start date, and Mr. McDonough could not be reached for comment.
